Reflection                                                                                  Once a man was asked,                                                                   ‘What did you gain                                                                               by praying regularly to God?’                                                           The man replied, ‘Nothing.                                                              But let me tell you what I lost:                                                    anger, ego, greed, depression,                                                  insecurity and fear of death.’                                               Sometimes the answer to our prayers                                               is not gaining but losing;                                                                 which ultimately is the gain.

“Exciting opportunity for young people – this      September the parish will commence running the Pope John Paul II Award (JPII Awards) programme. The JPII award programme was created to commemorate the late Pope John Paul II who was so committed to young people and is run in 21 dioceses across Ireland and the UK. The Awards are open to young people aged 16-18 and involve taking part in both parish and community/social activities. There are different levels of the Award, for example the first level, Bronze, requires young people to commit 1 hour per week for 8 weeks to assisting with parish liturgy and 1 hour per week for 8 weeks with social/community activities over an 18 month period. The parish will give participants every support and     assistance they require to complete the programme and achieve their awards. So why not get involved, have fun and gain an award! For anyone interested in  registering for the programme and/or for more     information please give your name and contact     details (and parent/guardian name and contact details if you’re under 18) to the parish office and the parish JPII award coordinator will be in touch!”

Fr Pat Reilly is raising funds for the RNLI in memory of Ciarán Smith and the crew of Rescue 116 while walking the Camino in September.

Parishioners and friends have already been very generous, but here in Brennan’s Life Pharmacy Donabate we want to support Fr Pat to raise even more funds for this worthy cause. Fr Pat is delighted that we will match any donations we receive here in the pharmacy or on his Justgiving page to a total of €1000, so we can raise another €2000 in total to boost his total.  Anyone who donates will also enter a draw for a wonderful quilt, made by local craftsperson Jackie Preston of
