Youth/Young Adult Notices:

1)Donabate parish youth group is seeking more young leaders – its a great way to meet other young people in the parish and beyond, grow your own faith, learn/practice leaderships skills, have something  different for inclusion on a CV! If you’re aged 18-29 and would be interested in helping out, even on ad hoc basis, email

2)The parish Pope John Paul II Award (JPII) coordinator is currently taking names of young people who may be interested in taking part in the JPII Awards this year. The JPII Awards are open to young people from 4th to 6th year and involve taking part in both parish and community/social activities. We  currently have 2 young people from the parish participating in the awards. Anyone interested in  getting more information should give their name and contact details (and parent/guardian name and details if under 18) into the parish office or email to:

3)Foundational Leadership Programme for Young Adults 2018 – 2019. This course is designed to    support young adults and, in turn, their parishes.  It is a dynamic, integrative and highly practical programme which will enable the participants to begin developing their skills as leaders and role  models within their local faith–based communities. It is being run over four Saturdays (10am-3pm) from October 2018 – March 2019 in St. Paul’s Church, Arran Quay. Any young adults over the age of 18 who would be interested in undertaking this programme or finding out more should email: or leave their contact details with the parish office.”


An Enrolment Mass for children   preparing for First Holy Communion will be celebrated in St. Ita’s Church next Saturday 13 October at 6.30.  Practice will held on Friday evening at 6.30 in St. Ita’s.


Next Sunday, 21 October is World Mission Sunday.  Pope Francis is asking all people throughout the world to contribute to this special collection.  It will replace the Share collection.

Eucharistic Adoration is held every Friday evening 6.30 – 7.30 in Donabate Church.  This is an opportunity to take time out of our busy lives for silent prayer in the company of Jesus our Lord.


Bright Sparks Montessori & Preschool, Donabate Community Centre are opening an afternoon class from 12.30-.3 pm.

Active Age for All activities started up again last week. It is going very well & most classes are full to the brim! We have introduced two new classes, Singing & Music on Thursday morning which is completely full but our other new class Bridge for Beginners & Improvers from 3-5pm has some places left. This is a great opportunity to learn Bridge from a great teacher at a very reasonable rate in a relaxed atmosphere. We also have some places left in Tai Chi on a Thursday, Cards on a Wednesday & Croquet in Newbridge Drop into the Community Centre where all our activities take place & check out our noticeboard or ask at reception or look up   or talk to Mary, Eilish, Brid, Jennifer, Breda….Willie, Gordon.

Céilí Dancing –  Monday night at 8.30 – 10 pm (from September – May) in Donabate Portrane Community Centre.  New members very welcome. Céilí dancing is great fun and an enjoyable way to get fit.  Cost:  €5.


Active Age Line Dancing on Mondays at 1 – 2 pm in the Donabate Portrane Community Centre.  We would be delighted to see new members in 2018.  It is a fun way to get fit and meet new friends.


Baby cardigans   knitted by a local lady for sale in the parish office in aid of the Church  roof repairs.  Cost €10.

Adoration of the Blessed Eucharist is held weekly in all three churches in the parish as follows:   St. Ita’s, Portrane – Wednesday 1-2 pm

Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Balheary- Friday 5-6 pm

St. Patrick’s Donabate – Friday 6.30-7.30 pm.      


The Donabate / Portrane Senior Citizens Social Club and Day Centre is open to all people of the parish over the age of 50.  We open every Wednesday and Friday from 10 AM – 1 PM in the Parish Hall.  We regularly hold events and have at least one outing a month.  All are welcome.  If you need transport to the Day Centre, please phone Mary on :  087 230 0496.
